"Koko hotel near Nijo Castle is strongly recommended. The room was roomy enough for 4 of us. The staff was friendly. You do need to keep your keycard in the slot near the front door to activate electricity. The property is located on a smaller street (on the same street as the dry cleaner). You may miss it at first. There is a coffee/breakfast spot right next to the hotel. It is quite convenient. We used Uber during our 2 nights stay at Kyoto. They were able to pick us up at the hotel....

"Great property with great facilities in an ideal location. The check in process, however is very lengthy and frustrating. After arriving at Kyoto station we struggled to find the check in counter. Then we spent nearly an hour in the office waiting and then walking through the details our out stay with the (very kind) staff. The whole process could be expedited via key box at the property itself."

"This hotel is clean and quiet, with very friendly staff. It's pretty centrally located, with a bus stop right in front, and it's just a few blocks from a major subway stop. It's only a few blocks from Nijo-jo Castle (make reservations online, to see inside). There's a 7-11 across the street, and if you want to stock up your room with groceries, there's a Life store a few blocks away. They have EXCELLENT sushi and other prepared foods, at very low prices. "
