"The property is clean, tidy and comfortable. The little communal kitchen area is a very good idea for making food or sitting in while eating a takeaway. There is plenty of tea and coffee in the room, and also a little fridge for storing milk, drinks, food etc. Have stayed before, hence why I returned again. "Our room was beautiful. It had a king size bed and the en-suite bathroom was a good size. The only downside was that the toilet flush handle was broken but still worked. It could have done with better lighting in the bathroom as you couldn’t see in the mirror very well. The room was immaculately clean and had a sofa and tv with easy to connect to WiFi. Personally I struggled with comfort of the bed as I found it too soft but it was dressed with clean sheets and had extra pillows in the wardrobe....

"Es war einfach wunderbar. Sehr stilvoll eingerichtet, grosses und gepflegtes Zimmer und Bad mit grosser Dusche. Sehr viel Ablagefläche im Bad und wohlriechende Pflegeprodukte. Das Doppelbett war sehr, sehr bequem und das Hotel sehr ruhig, so dass ich wunderbar schlief. Das Frühstück konnte am Vortag ausgewählt werden. "I stayed two nights at the King’s Lodge. Excellent staff and dining options. My bathroom was very clean, well appointed and it had great water pressure. 👍 It’s just a stone’s throw away from Durham High Street and some magnificent views. My biggest take on the Kings Lodge was how polite and friendly the staff were. Makes a good stay."

"Positives: The bed was very comfy. Breakfast was excellent. The grounds & interior of the hotel are stunning. Staff were very attentive Negatives: No wardrobe although hangers are suspended from a bar for you to hang clothes. No iron & ironboard provided. No tissue box. Hole in hand towel. Room hadn't been cleaned properly - cobwebs on inside of window, TV remote covered in dust, dust in mirror edges"

"Stayed here for one night on business. Great rate for the night. Check in great. Room fantastic with a bit of wow factor upon entering. Very clean, comfy bed. Swimming pool fantastic. Fusion restaraunt food lovely but service not great. I was approached almost as soon as i sat down for food ordering but i hadnt seen the menu yet so i asked for 2 minutes. 15 minutes later a server came and apologised for the wait. "The hotel is well situated from Durham city, about 10-15 minutes drive to either The Riverwalk or Walkergate very central car parks. The family room (3 people) was comfortable, cleaned every day and spacious. The hotel has a great Thai restaurant and pub/bar (food and drinks in both areas, affordable prices). The staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended."

"Do not be put off by the fact I gave it 4 stars for comfort - part of its charm is nothing is straight in the place. The windows, doors and often the floors are wonky. But is really is a fantastic place to stay. Where else are you going to walk through a wardrobe to your bathroom. Lovely None of the pics I uploaded do it justice "
