This hotel is old (they don’t call it “historic” for nothing) and run down (featuring peeling wallpaper, a saggy matress, threadbare carpet and a kitchen that looks like it was built in the 80s). "We have stayed in 6 hotels. Ashley Hotel was the second. With the water problem in Greymouth an excellent idea would be to provide bottled water in each room. The Elms in Christchurch did that and they did not have a water problem. The fridge was too stacked full of alcohol to be able to add any stuff of ours. The handbasin had a hair dryer burn in it which was not a good look. "
