"Staying for access to university visit. Twin room was basic but very clean. Room was a bit cold but that may have been me being a bit under the weather. Bathroom was small but well formed. No toilet brush was odd but otherwise fine. Walls are paper thin. Quiet conversations are easily audible. Restaurant good. Breakfast was excellent. Excellent value for money "

"All in all nice little cottage for a couple and good as was pet friendly to go up Durham to visit our son up uni and take our dog to see him too. Cottage was nice a little place although i think the tv was slightly too high on wall. As we arrived there were 3 plumbing vans parked outside so had to park out side another cottage for bout hour n half till they moved their vans after going in pub at front of cottages before parking own car then outside our own cottage. "We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Royal Oak. Food can be ordered in the evening until 8pm and the menu is extensive and good value. We received a friendly welcome at this family run inn. The full english breakfast was delicious and included in our room price which made it very good value. The bedroom was large with a fairly new ensuite shower and toilet. There are woods across the road where we walked our dog. 15 mins to Durham made it perfect for our needs. I am sure we will return. The...
