"As much as I'd like to recommend staying here on your trip to bunny island, I cannot. The host did provide details for self check-in, but the property is in various states of disrepair. The AC is left off during the summer, so when we entered, it was hot and humid. The bathroom was left off as well and had accumulated mold. It smelled atrocious to the point we were pretty sure it would be a hazard to use it. I don't expect to incur any penalties, but the host also had many fee addendums...

"Close to Matsuyama station and 10 minutes walk to the restaurant areas. A bit old but the internals have been renewed somewhat and it felt clean enough for us. Free breakfast and large public bath (as well as private bathroom) is also an added bonus. "

"The place exceeded expectations from the very beginning where you are greeted at the front entrance. The lobby is large with many tables and seats while waiting for the checkin process. The tatami room was clean and large with a great view of the mountain and Sakura trees. Before dinner a short walk down the hill takes you to Dogo Onsen and small shops. The Totoro shop was a fun place to visit. Then eating a small mochi stick with green tea added to the experience. There were many other snack shops but had to hold back to prepare for the big kaiseki dinner. The kaiseki dinner was beyond spectacular with intricate dish designs and wonderful taste. The Noh play during the meal added to the pleasant dining atmosphere. The Onsen was compact with both indoor and outdoor baths with reasonable temperature of around 43C. There was a small wooden bucket for washing was a nice touch instead of plastic buckets which is common at other places. Overall, this was the best ryokan I have stayed at. Highly recommended."

"The hotel is really well located, near the city's shopping district. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly, and breakfast is delicious. The bath is really nice, and the view of the city is beautiful. I will definitely consider returning to this hotel if I get the chance."
