What you can expect

Discover the tracks and trails of Zealandia as you admire the native creatures and sheltered scenery of this beautiful wildlife sanctuary. This tour introduces you to some of the most unique species in New Zealand in their natural habitat as you learn about the efforts to protect them.

Once you meet your guide, get started with the exhibition and short film that introduces you to some of the species protected in the sanctuary, as well as the groundbreaking efforts underway to restore its ecosystem to the way it was before humans arrived. It's then time to step into the grounds to explore the sights for yourself, while your guide shares stories about the creatures and the conservation work of its staff.

Along the way, you get the chance to capture photos of some of the world's rarest creatures, from takahe and kaka to tuatara and weta. Admire the valley's beautiful scenery and leave with a new appreciation for the scale of its work and the enduring life of nature.
