You’ll camp, canoe, fish, and hike in different areas daily, gaining insights into the magnificent Amazon rainforest with Joshua’s Amazon Team. Our journey takes us to the remote Amazon jungle in Amana Lake, situated on Ubim Creek.

For this deep Survival trip to Amanã Lake, you need to get to the city of Tefe, where there is a daily flight from Manaus to Tefe airport with 50 minutes flight with Azul Airlines, you can take the fare boat from Manaus which takes 2 days and 2 nights traveling on the Amazon River until you get to the City of Tefe where our Team will be waiting for you to Begin the Survival trip.

Day 1: Begin of the Trip

Tefe
Day 1 At 9 am, you will be picked up at Tefe Airport upon arrival and transferred to the port of the city of Tefe. From there, the group will take a speedboat to navigate through the dark waters of Tefe Lake, where the dark water of Tefe Lake meets the Solimoes River. Continuing our journey, we navigate on the Solimoes River, then take the Japura River, navigating on different tributaries of the Amazon River until we reach Amana Lake and the community base of UBIM, where lunch will be served. The journey takes approximately 5 hours, depending on the water level. At 3 p.m., the group departs on a local motorized boat to the first campsite. During the journey to the camp, it is possible to spot various birds from the region.
Day 2: Camping in the Jungle

Lago Amanã
Day 2 At 7:00 am, breakfast is served, followed by a jungle walk starting at 8:00 am and lasting until noon. During the walk, the guide provides valuable information about the flora and fauna of the Amazon Jungle, including medicinal plants, spiders, and trees. There may also be a chance to spot some monkeys. The afternoon activity begins at 3 pm with canoeing by paddle on the small channels, offering an excellent opportunity to spot wildlife. The group paddles upstream on the Ubim Creek toward the second campsite. Dinner is prepared, followed by a Caiman sporting activity, where the guide catches one by hand, allowing participants to touch and learn more about this prehistoric animal of the Amazon River. Then, it’s back to camp for the night.
Day 3: Camping in the Jungle

Lago Amanã
Day 3 After breakfast, a full-day hike to the next camp begins. During the hike, the group explores more of the Amazon and learns about survival techniques, such as identifying edible fruits, plants, and other creatures found in the jungle. Upon reaching the camp, dinner is prepared over a fireside, following the tradition of native people of the Amazon, before settling in for the night.
Day 4: Camping in the Jungle

Lago Amanã
Day 4 Breakfast is served, followed by a boat ride through channels and small creeks (depending on the water level), offering a great chance to spot birds and other wildlife, such as giant otters. After the boat ride, it’s time to set up camp in a new jungle area before going on a short hike. In the evening, a boat excursion with a spotlight allows for wildlife viewing, offering a unique experience of the sounds and sights of the Amazon jungle at night. Then, it’s back to camp for the night.
Day 5: Camping in the Jungle

Lago Amanã
Day 5 After breakfast, the group embarks on a hike to search for fruits, larvae, and other edible sources, enhancing the understanding of survival in the Amazon. Lunch is served at camp, followed by the group moving to another spot to set up a new camp. Fishing with a spear is an afternoon activity, aiming to catch fish for dinner. Then, it’s back to camp for the night.
Day 6: Camping in the Jungle

Igarapé Ubim
Day 6 Another day in the jungle begins with breakfast, followed by exploration of a new area in search of fruits or larvae, with a focus on learning about edible and poisonous species. After returning to camp for lunch, the group heads out by boat to explore the creek, engaging in piranha fishing and setting fishing nets for dinner. After dinner, a nighttime boat excursion offers more wildlife-spotting opportunities before returning to camp for the night.
Day 7: Back to Tefe

Tefe
Day 7 Breakfast is served, and after packing up, the group takes a boat ride to the Ubim Community, arriving at noon for lunch. At 2:00 pm, the journey back to the City of Tefe begins, with drop-offs at hotels in town.
