After being picked up from your accommodation at 7:15 AM, head to the Stavanger or Lauvvik ferry station, and take the ferry across the fjord. From the other side, it is a short drive to Preikestolen Lodge, the starting point for the hike. The hike up will take you between 2 and 3 hours. Once at Pulpit Rock, spend some time enjoying the views of beautiful natural scenery and take some photos. Enjoy your packed lunch, beverages, and some snacks here. The hike back will likely also take 2 to 3 hours, and you can expect to arrive back in Stavanger around 3-4 PM.
The distance covered is approximately 4 km each way and the level is easy to moderate. Depending on weather, snow, and ice conditions, the trail may become slippery in some of the more demanding areas. The supplier provides crampons if the conditions requiers it. Some hiking experience is desirable, but not mandatory. Hikers should be prepared with clothes and shoes for cold weather. Hiking boots are required on this hike, and can be rented when booking. Other suggestions include warm, windproof, and waterproof clothing. Bring some water with you to keep hydrated, preferably in a container you can refill on the trail. Norwegian mountains are full of crystal clear, clean, and very tasty water sources. Lunch will not be provided, but please bring your own snack. Each hiker is responsible for carrying his/her own gear, so a suitable backpack is recommended.
