Activity itinerary

Plaza del Fontan
  • 15m
Start the tour by getting immersed in the vibrant atmosphere at the cozy Fontan Square, full of activities from eating, drinking, chatting, street performances to bustling flea markets on weekend mornings. The historical meeting point since the 9th century is an ideal starting point to explore Oviedo’s rich culture.
Oviedo Town Hall
  • 15m
Then, head to the city center and encounter the 15th-century Town Hall. The Castilian Renaissance guild house features an elegant portico which dominates the Constitution Square together with the splendid façade in a striking reddish shade of San Isidoro Church.
Calle Cimadevilla
  • 15m
The archway underneath the clock tower at the center of the Town Hall reveals the picturesque Cimadevilla Street - an exciting journey through time, from stunning historic architecture, most notably the 17th-century Baroque Valdecarzana-Heredia Palace and the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias, to lively cultural events celebrating Oviedo’s traditions and history.
Cathedral of San Salvador
  • 15m
  • Admission ticket not included
The street leads to the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Salvador, one of the oldest religious monuments in Old Town. The 13th-century religious hub boasts a looming tower topped by an elaborate spire that looks like a crown of Oviedo’s skyline.
Jardín de los Reyes
  • 15m
But the highlight of all is the Caudillos Kings Garden, nestling on the right side of the church. The landscaped green space features stone statues of the twelve Kings of Asturias. The exquisite stoneworks are well complemented by the beautiful layout of the garden and the tranquility of the church, making it one of the most photographed sites in the Old Town.
Calle Gascona
  • 15m
After the serene garden, join Gascon Street, lovingly known as the “Boulevard of Cider''. Renowned for its back-to-back cider houses, the beating heart of Asturian cider culture is the best place to admire the traditional way of serving cider: one hand with the bottle goes up, the other with the glass goes down, the waiter effortlessly pours cider from a height of 3 feet exactly into the glass.
Fuente de Foncalada
  • 15m
At the end of the street, stop by the archaeological site of Foncalada Fountain. Dating as early as the 9th century, the only surviving example of civil construction from that time, consisting of a well-preserved stone structure and an ashlar pool, offers an interesting glimpse into life during the early Middle Ages.
Estatua de Woody Allen
  • 15m
Finally, take souvenir photos with the most popular sculptural work in the city: the lifelike statue of Woody Allen, the world-renowned filmmaker who fell in love with the enchanting city and chose it as the setting for his movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The monument is located right next to the fairytale San Francisco Park, a great place for relaxing on comfy benches surrounded all by beautiful natural landscapes.
