The General Gregorio Luperón House Museum is a cultural space dedicated to conveying the values of the national hero and leader of the Dominican Restoration, General Gregorio Luperón, highlighting the aspects of their lives that have been collected in a special way to be exposed as a heritage of Puerto Plata, which left the legacy of freedom to the country. The museum is located in the same place where the general is known to have spent his last days, which represents a landmark for the city of Puerto Plata. The entire history of the life and work of the first figure and sword of the Restoration manifests itself and comes to life in each of the stations that highlight in detail the stages as a human being and as leader of this emblematic son of Puerto Plata.

Victorian houses were ONE style used in housing and buildings destined for social activities at the beginning of the century, managing to give an own image to the province, which to this day remains. History. From 1857, the Victorian style from England began in Puerto Plata, named after Queen Victoria, regent of that time. The one who visits Puerto Plata, you will notice that the architecture, especially in the surroundings of its Central Park, is Victorian since all are made of wood and artistic form.

The park is a setting of high historical value. It was built in 1872 as one of the gifts of military officer and provisional president Gregorio Luperón to Puerto Plata, when it was briefly the capital of the Dominican Republic.

An impressive Greek open-air amphitheatre facing the Atlantic Ocean flanked by the Fortress of San Felipe on one side, and the green La Puntilla park on the other. Concerts and other artistic events are occasionally heldOpened in April 2017, La Puntilla is Puerto Plata’s newest outdoor venue. It is an impressive Greek amphitheater of 2,062 square meters facing the Atlantic Ocean with capacity for 4,000 spectators. Flanked by Fortress San Felipe, and the green La Puntilla park, it is the perfect setting for concerts, dance shows and other artistic events that take place here occasionally with the participation of Dominican and international artists.

With a strategic location within the limits of the historic center of the city of Puerto Plata, La Fortaleza San Felipe was completed in 1577 as part of the colonial military structures that would make up the defense system of the Caribbean; a strategy articulated from the Spanish crown in order to defend and protect the new conquered lands and the marine routes of smuggling, Corsican and piracy. The construction of the Fort passed endless setbacks that came from the crown and local officials who were not interested in the work finishing. Consequently, the Royal Audience of Santo Domingo instructs Francisco Ceballos who began the work in March 1563 with the elevation of the wall that would serve as protection to the Castle. After Ceballos died in 1572, he was replaced by Pedro Rengifo de Angulo who managed to finish the building in 1577.

The street of parasols is a colorful road, located on San Felipe Street, between Beller and Duarte Streets, in the historic center of the city. This colorful place is ideal to enjoy with family and friends. This street features 178 multicolored umbrellas, creating a fun atmosphere to capture a beautiful memory of Puerto Plata.
