Begin this unforgettable walk through the old quarter for pilots and captains at the Blankenese station. Admire the Goßlerhaus in one of the specious parks. Walk along the main street in Blankenese to the “Stairs Neighborhood”, and wander over the staircases to the beach. As you navigate many of the nearly 5,000 stairs, you’ll hear stories about Brahms on his summer holidays, the smallest house in Blankenese, and the fisherman who brought down the pirate Störtebeker.
After a short break in the sand, continue on uphill. The effort is rewarded with a fantastic view of the sea and the leisurely cruising sailing ships. You’ll also learn where the name “Blankanese” comes from and who volunteers as a mailman in the neighborhood.
