What you can expect

Take a scenic excursion out of the city to the Cola de Caballo waterfall and visit the enchanting colonial town of Santiago. Along your journey, pass through beautiful natural scenery and learn about local history from an experienced and knowledgeable guide.

Your guide picks you up from your Monterrey hotel in the morning, taking you out of the city to a natural park. Venture out on foot, following winding trails through forested cliffs and stopping at viewpoints along the way to admire the vibrant vistas. Discover unique birdlife and colorful flora with the help of your guide before arriving at the Cola de Caballo waterfall itself. The 82-foot (25-m) tall cascade gets its name from its horsetail shape, which is created as the water tumbles down and fans out over imposing rocks.

After the waterfall, head to the nearby town of Santiago. The charming village is known for its tranquil atmosphere and colonial-style architecture. Here, visit St. James's Church and the Main Plaza, getting the chance to admire the history of the area, before visiting El Mirador for splendid views. At the end of your journey, get chauffeured back to Monterrey.

First of all the car is very filthy Supposed to be English tour but the guide spoke Spanish 80% of the time with the other passengers He took us to look at the new soccer field from the distance instead of the museum with the dinosaurs bones He didn’t follow the itinerary and his Englidh is limited Mexitour is not a professional run company Very disappointing with the two tours we signed up for Unfortunately we had the same guide for both days It is a waste of money

Our tour guide was a lovely old man. My boyfriend and I were expecting a hike, but instead it was just a walk on a paved path up a slight incline to get to the waterfall. The waterfall was gorgeous but shops have been constructed on either side of it and it takes away from the experience. What a shame really. There ropes courses and place where you could bungee jump. we were given time to bungee jump which me and another tour member did. It was very cheap but I am not dead so it went well. After the waterfall, we were driven down into the town and were taken to two picture worthy places. We were not expecting time for lunch so that was a nice surprise. Our tour guide just dropped us off at a restaurant and left us to fend for ourselves. Luckily someone on the tour with us spoke some Spanish but if he weren't there we would not haven been successful in getting lunch. Afterwards were were driven back to our hotel.

This is not a tour. Its a local taxi driver you hire for 4-6 hours, the time depends on how long you spend taking pictures and how your fast walking pace is. As for the water fall, it was nice but you basically take a 10-15 min walk on a paved road and up some stairs and its right there. Save your money and get a taxi from your hotel to take you there.
