The “Village Art Project,” started by local artists and villagers to preserve the character and historical value of Gamcheon, became the basis for the Gamcheon Culture Village development project, and various competitions were held starting from this project, with approximately 1.4 million participants in 2015. It has become a popular tourist attraction. However, there is also a sad history. The village was founded by a pseudo-religious leader called Taegeukgyo, who exploited the residents’ money and labor to gain wealth and power..
Gukje Market
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
In the 1890s, it was located in Bupyeong-dong, Jung-gu, Busan under the name of 'Sageori Market', and was designated as the first public market in the country in 1910. Then, after the Korean War, refugees began selling mainly canned goods from US military bases, such as canned goods, here, and the name 'Canned Can Market' arose. In addition, it is said that there were many strange items, so it was also nicknamed ‘Goblin Market’. Dozens of street food stalls are located on both sides and in the center of the 110m long narrow street, selling snacks and other snacks. What's unique is that there are a lot of foreign foods, and there are quite a few stores sold directly by foreigners. There is a wide variety of dishes, including Turkish kebabs, Indonesian mee goreng, Vietnamese spring rolls, and Japanese or Filipino dishes. Because there are so many people and the road is narrow, it is spectacular to see everyone walking in one line.
