Departure from Montpellier at 9 am to the Cevennes National Park, whose agro-pastoral cultural landscapes were listed as UNESCO World Heritage in 2011. First stop in a unique bamboo grove where more than 240 varied species of trees are present. Free visit of the park.
Break for lunch in a restaurant (extra charge) or with a lunchbox that you will bring.
After lunch you will follow the Gardon river and you will see small villages and hamlets with rustic bare stone houses, which is typical of Cevennes architecture. Short stop to stroll through the alleys of one of these villages and learn about the history of the protestants and the journey of the famous writer Stevenson.
If it is very hot, I will take you to the beautiful Gardon river to bathe.
I then will introduce you to a local farmer, who will guide you on his plots and will tell you about his work.
After this step, you will take the way back, with a last essential stop in the picturesque medieval town of Anduze, where the famous glazed terracotta vase has been made since the 17th century.
Return to Nîmes at 4 pm.
