What you can expect

Our 8-hour Historical Malacca Tour promises to immerse you in the rich history, vibrant culture, and captivating appeal of this UNESCO World Heritage city. Upon pickup from your hotel lobby in Kuala Lumpur, you embark on a 2 hour scenic ride to Melaka. On your way there, your driver guide shares insights into the city's rich history while pointing out famous sites along the way.

Once you’ve arrived at Melaka, you'll begin your adventure by visiting St. Peter's Church, which was established in 1710 and is noted for its Baroque architecture.

After having a quick photo stop at St. Peter's Church, you move on to the Dutch Square. The Dutch Square, with its red-colored buildings, recalls recollections of the past when the Dutch dominated Malacca. You'll witness the Stadthuys, which functioned as the official residence of Dutch administrators and the Queen Victoria Fountain, built in 1901 to mark Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

Next, you’ll walk your way to the Christ Church of Melaka, which was built by the Dutch in 1753 and features beautiful red bricks and a distinct Dutch colonial design. This Dutch-built Anglican church, formerly Dutch-reformed, exemplifies Malacca's historic legacy.

Along the way, you’ll notice several souvenir stalls at the Dutch Square, where you can browse and purchase unique traditional crafts and souvenirs to remember your visit.

You'll then make your way up to St. Paul's Hill, where you’ll witness the ruins of St. Paul's Church, which was built by the Portuguese in 1521. The panoramic views of Malacca from here are stunning, as are the ruins of this historic church situated on the summit of St. Paul's Hill. In addition to the ruins, there is a statue of St. Francis Xavier at the top.

You'll then descend to see the iconic A’ Famosa, the remains of a 16th-century Portuguese stronghold. The fortress, built by the Portuguese in 1511, was taken by the Dutch in 1641 and substantially destroyed by the British in the 18th century.

After having a quick stop at A Famosa and listening to the historical insights given by your driver guide, we pause at a picturesque overlook to see the majestic Straits of Malacca and important landmarks such as the Independence Building and Memorial Club House.

Next, you make your way for a leisurely stroll along the Malacca River, where you can admire the charming riverside scenery with decorated bridges, cafés, shophouses, and historic buildings along the way. You walk your way to Jonker Street in Chinatown, famous for its vibrant atmosphere, antique shops and delicious street food, which are really intriguing to observe in an authentic old street.

Our trip ends with a delicious lunch of local Malaccan dishes, offering authentic flavors and culinary traditions. You get the chance to savour a great meal of native Malaccan cuisine made with fresh ingredients and unique flavors before you get back in the vehicle and enjoy the 2-hour ride back to your hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Excellent guided tour from Segar - very knowledgeable about Malaysian history, culture, buildings and everything! We had a very pleasant drive down to Malacca, an enlightening tour of the many sites and attractions of the town, some time for shopping and exploring and an authentic lunch, eaten mostly with our fingers!! Another pleasant drive back to KL with more sites pointed out as we returned to our hotel. Thanks Segar!

Beautiful city but we could do it by ourselves, no interesting stops on the way, no commentary on the way, very basic explanation on the spot.

We had a wonderful experience with Jaya in Melaka! The whole trip from start to finish was smooth and enjoyable and we had an amazing time learning more about the city and its history. Jaya's friendly and smiley personality added to the experience and made it even better.

: Very long excursion, it would be better to take one or two nights there. The guide, David, told us that it was an overview of Malacca that he could give us in such a short time. Indeed, from Kuala Lumpur, the road is long. That said, it is a city very rich in history, the museum is very interesting and a pity that we did not have time to see everything. Malacca is a pretty little colonial town. We didn't even have time to stroll through its alleys when it made you want to. We saw monitor lizards in the river. Our guide is professional: he knows his subject, he respects the schedules, he is helpful (he came back to my hotel the next day to drop me off what I had forgotten in his car) but he speaks quickly even if we point out to him and in as long as you're not an English speaker, it hasn't always been easy

Another full day, in a place full of history, symbols, beauty. Melaka, formerly Malacca, city and port, is a multicultural city worth reading about. A great heritage! Thanks Maidin Man!
