"Staff is super nice. Hotel is a bit outdated, the rooms can use a decoration refresh but they are big and clean. About a 10 min walk to Gengenbach town centre. Didn’t eat at the restaurant but the vibe looked relaxing. "

"Wonderful stay.. this place has everything you need and more, even a Christmas tree. It was super clean, the kitchen was almost as stocked as at home complete with a spice rack and even board games for the family. 5+ stars.. "A lovely guest house, room was spacious and the hosts could not have been more welcoming. They spoke very good English. The breakfast was traditional german breakfast with the addition of muffins and croissants. A good selection with homemade jam as well! Unfortunately we stayed in 30 degree heat and so with no air conditioning, the room was very hot but nothing the hosts could do about this. "This stay was very nice. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the food was good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because I found the bed uncomfortable and did not sleep well. If you like an extra firm/hard mattress you will enjoy it though, so it’s just a matter of preference. Overall, a great stay!"

"The hotel design is incredible- I hadn't realised that the property had been a prison - unique and interesting and all decoration is to a high standard. "This was the best stay ever. If you get the chance to visit here, try for at least two nights, if not more. We hated to leave. The spa is wonderful. The restaurant has an amazing menu. They do a fantastic job with the breakfast buffet. Absolutely beautiful property. "

"I had a phenomenal time staying here! The room was tidy, cozy, and plenty spacious. All the windows were easy to open and the patio was ultra-relaxing after a long day of hiking around. The breakfasts were incredible. Hard or soft boiled eggs, meats and cheeses, versatile breads and pretzles, sauces, jams, veggies, etc. The cappuccinos are highly recommended, and I would come back in a heartbeat for another round of breakfast and hiking!"

Lovely little hotel

"Nice hotel. Dinner surprisingly tasty for a small hotel but beware it was meant to be cash only which we didn't know so the owner kindly added it to our hotel bill. Rooms nice and comfortable although kids had to sleep in a sofa converted bunk bed. Proprietor is very nice. Parking is ample. "
