A beautiful room with a king size most comfortable bed. We booked on the day of our stay and whilst we had arranged to eat elsewhere we returned for a glass of wine - the bar was well decorated and the staff were most pleasant Would hope to return

The Best New Place to Stay in Newbury

A fantastic new addition to the Newbury hotel scene. The Coat and Bear is brand new, and while it still has some understandable teething issues with tech, the team could not have been more friendly and courteous throughout my stay. The rooms were renovated to an exceptionally high standard for the room rate, and the food in the restaurant is exceptional.

Some of the rooms are directly onto the street so can be noisy in the evening. Breakfast wasn’t included and was quite expensive for what was on offer. That said, the room was lovely, the staff excellent, and it was really convenient being in the centre of town.

We stayed in a really fancy room. It was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. The bathroom was lovely with a separate shower and free standing bath. Plenty of lovely Bramley products. There was a fridge with fresh milk and water, tea, coffee and an Illy coffee machine. Some little sweet treats were left for us to enjoy. Breakfast was good too.
