On the plus side, this hotel has been refurbished in a modern style and is reasonably well equipped, although it lacks a bar or restaurant. However, the area around there is very well served by restaurants, cafés and bars and the hotel is directly in front of the casino and gardens, and so is excellently located. Additionally, the hotel has a lower level open air car park secured by a gate that you access with a code. What lets this hotel down mainly is the pool quality of staff at the reception. It wasn’t clear whether they were poorly trained or just didn’t care but the service that they offered was very poor. For instance, the instructions on how to utilise the electronic safe in the room was inadequate. When I asked the reception staff for help the only response I got was that they didn’t know what to do either as the safes were relatively new. That’s really not an excuse! Also, although the room was equipped with cups and a kettle, pods were required and had to be paid for, with a dispenser machine located in reception. However, when I asked them to break a €10 note so I could get change for the machine, unbelievably they said they didn’t have any change. It’s things like this, and the absence of any towel hooks in the bathroom or any kind of entrance to the lower level car park (you have to walk around the building and go through the gate like the cars do) the stops this being what I would rate to be a good hotel.
