"This Quinta exceeded our expectations. It is situated in a rural and beautiful area. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance. There’s also a much larger town not too far from the Quinta, called Penafiel. The villa where we stayed had a breathtaking view of both the vineyard and river. "Lovely family run hotel in the countryside in Arouca! Suite was so clean and comfy and decor was sooo nice! Suite is the only one with a little Kitchenette in, but you can use the kitchen downstairs in the public area too! Very clean and thought of everything! Peaceful and lovely pool! "

"The property is beautiful and straddles the Douro River. The roads are not really walkable - narrow, no sidewalks. The breakfast was great. The restaurants lunch and dinner was mediocre. The restaurant did face the beautiful Douro River and had tremendous views. The rooms were nice but not special. "

"This is a beautiful, peaceful property. We enjoyed the huge rooms, gorgeous dining room, and decent gym. The spa consisted of a small sauna and steam room (which we could not open, and there was no one working there to open it). But it was very difficult to find, as the Expedia address took us to a house 15 minutes away. "A very old and tired hotel. Room had not been aired for a long time so smelled damp and musty - I had to open the window as soon as I entered the room. Old furniture, old and dilapidated bathroom / shower. Span and gym not available. Swimming pool available but costs €18 for a swim! I dont expect to pay as a guest of the hotel. Breakfast OK - coffee cold."
