The staff were hospitable as always in Bali - HOWEVER, our stay at Tapa Tepi Kali was unfortunately a battle, hence the overall one star. We booked the Deluxe Pool Access room - the room itself was freshly renovated, a big room with a big bed and strong air-conditioning. The bathroom was a massive disappointment. I blame Expedia here, as the photos were minimal, clearly angled at the shower door only. The bathroom was not renovated, with what appeared to be an old outdoor glass door that swung inwards giving even less space. Only one person can fit in there at a time, also not to mention it was filthy. There was rust in ever corner, dust and dirt - the floor was also hideously dirty. We brought this to the attention of staff, who stated they would give a deep clean. Not much changed, in addition to the fact it was still far too small. We again informed the staff as well as Expedia of our dissatisfaction, who were both extremely unhelpful. The staff said we could upgrade to the Villa - at a cost - more than it was through Expedia, and even though this room was available throughout our stay. Being a Gold Member and this property being VIP Access, I was expecting far better service. This left a bitter taste in our mouth, and we checked out 5 days early. Expedia did not help to adjust our stay or even give us alternate options or partial refund. I have used Expedia consistently and exclusively for years and unfortunately will now be changing travel platforms.
