"Fantastic room with private outdoor bath. Public baths are also great. The dinner and buffet breakfast is huge and delicious. The staff is so helpful and friendly. Stayed here multiple times and love it more each time. "

"Nice traditional old Japanese style stay. Though Breakfast is also traditionally Japanese style with rice! Yes morning Breakfast with rice, we still prefer bread or something light. Room extremely spacious compare to Tokyo city. Might need some renovations to upgrade tho. "

"Classic modern Japanese Inn with shared bathrooms and onsen, tatami rooms with Japanese bedding. No mens room on the 2nd floor. No staff, check-in and out automated. Basic facilities but all working order. Clean and Good location for exploring Yuzawa area, if you are comfortable with Japanese style travel."

"Perfect Japanese style room. Definitely recommend for holiday at nearby resorts. But not for anything romantic as it’s a family oriented place. note bathroom and showers are shared and from 5-9pm only. Good for a group or a couple on a quick holiday."

"Large lodge within short walking distance of Prince Gondola number 2. My group of 5 stayed in for 2 nights. We had 2 tatami rooms with the wall divider separated to make the room 1 large room. Sleeping arangements were Futons on the floor which we had to unfold and prepare ourselves, but everything was provided in the cupboards. Sinks, toilets are shared with everyone on the same floor but there is plenty to go around for everyone. There is also a mens only and womens only communal bath on...

"Takanoya is a wonderful traditional ryukan style onsen. I highly recommend it. The rooms are clean and well kept, the onsen is hot and private, and the proprietor is thoughtful and generous."

"It was great experience staying at this place. Right after we went to gala Yuzawa ski came back to the hotel and dipped ourselves into the large Ofuro in the basement. Smoking was not allowed inside or well outside the house so it was the only problem me and my friends faced during the stay but all in all we enjoyed our stay at the place. Place is warm and cozy. Recommend for friends and family or in groups over 5 people. "

"Our room was not prepared when we arrived- the beds were still left as is from the previous guests and we went down to notify the property staff- with which unfortunately, we could not communicate in neither Japanese nor English."

"食事などはボリュームもありとても満足しています。 しかし 暖房器具が合わなくて苦労しました。 暖房を使うと喉が痛くなってしまい暖房を使わないまま寝たこと。 家族連れの子供が終始騒いでおり残念ながら夜も朝もうるさかったこと。 これはホテル側の問題ではないので難しいところです。 暖房器具は部屋に備え付けのものを使うと喉がやられてしまい咳き込んでしまいました。"
