The wonder of Termessos is an ancient city built into the mountains near Antalya. At its highest point it reaches 5,462 feet (1,665 metres), dwarfing the surrounding mountains. Bring enough water and snacks for your hikes, which may last for several hours in intense heat. Visit the restaurant near the park’s entrance beside a snack shop, a café and restrooms. Peruse the small museum’s exhibits of items and photos relating to the ruins of Termessos.
It is said that Alexander the Great failed in his attempt to conquer the towering city. However, you can now visit both the ancient city and the national park for a fee. The park is open from morning until evening, with an earlier closing time in the winter season.
Termessos is located 20 miles (32.2 kilometres) northwest of Antalya. Rent a car to enjoy the scenic 1-hour journey through mountains and valleys. Buses and tour coaches take passengers to the ancient city.
