We loved staying in Kameoka and commuting into Kyoto because after the crowds in Kyoto it was so refreshing to come back to quiet and clean Kameoka. We enjoyed every minute of our stay."

"This was a very comfortable and welcoming guest house for a very authentic Japanese experience. It had everything we needed and Kenji was very helpful and kind. The steps to the second floor are steep so it would be tricky for anyone who has difficulty walking. For anyone intimidated by sharing a bathroom or toilet- it was fine. We had no trouble using the facilities whenever we needed them even though the guest house was full. It was a lovely stay. "

"Lovely hostel with very kind staff. Everything was very clean and there were a lot of thoughtful touches. It is right on a road so earplugs were helpful to drown out road noise at night. Lots of great food options during the day but things close early so fewer dinner options. Would definitely stay again. "

"This hotel was truly the highlight of our trip! My husband and I visited for our honeymoon and the staff went out of their way to upgrade us to the nicest suite in the hotel. This gesture was something we will never forget and made our trip beyond memorable. Special shout out to Nana, Aina, Mai and Yoshi for going the extra mile and making our experience that much more special and memorable. We will never forget this staff and the things they did to make us feel so special. "

"The location is great- steps from the train station. Not a lot nearby in terms of food and most things close early when the tourists leave for the day. Which means it’s pretty quiet at night. Rooms are good size, not cramped like most of Japan. Windows barely open and the AC was not working well when we were there. "

"We had an amazing time during our stay. The service was impeccable and personalized. We had a kaiseki dinner and breakfast, both of which were a great way of learning more about Japanese culture. I definitely recommend spending a little more to get the dinner. They also provided us a celebratory dish since this was our honeymoon trip! We also got the room with a half open- air hot spring bath which was particularly relaxing to soak in after a busy day of walking. I will love to come back to stay again in the future! "
