Property is big with lots of activities and dining options. Pools were great, and the food from the snack bar and buffet was always good, my partner and I were never once disappointed with the food there (and they have lots of food options to choose from! we highly recommend the taco bar.) We were unable to try out any of the restaurants on the property as we had to reserve a table in the early morning with the concierge which we didn't think it was worth it since we were fine with just eating from the dinner buffet. The pools were also great and always clean, but the pool bar was somewhat distracting as kids were allowed to be right at the bar as well. We visited the spa on the property and it was a 10/10 experience, we highly recommend! Even though the resort is farther out from the central area, the cost for uber to downtown there and back to the resort was very affordable! The area around the resort is also very safe, we walked to some restaurants on the beach outside of the resort, and through the town to get to the Zoo close by. Everyone is very welcoming and the staff at the resort were amazing! Mario (one of the belhops), Raul (from the snack bar) were amazing to us as well as all of the bartenders and waiters/waitresses around the resort. Overall we had a fantastic time at this resort and we will definitely plan to return again.

The property was very nice and the food was good. The only issue I had was that only one of the restaurants that you had to reserve for dinner didn't have a dress code to get in. Who brings pants to the beach. I mean my son and I had dress shorts and dress sandals and were not allowed in the restaurants after the front desk told us that dress shorts and dress sandals were sufficient to get into and dine with our family. Unfortunately, that was not the case and we were turned away rather rudely.

Property is beautiful the view is gorgeous. My only complaints are that our fridge in our room didn’t work we let the front desk know and they did nothing but take a note. My other complaint was the reservations for the restaurants we stayed 8 days and they only allowed us 4 reservations for our stay. The buffet was decent for dinner and lunch but breakfast was not so great. My last complaint is the pools not sure how often they clean them or properly clean them but we had pool view and not once did we see the pools get cleaned my child caught a foot hand and mouth disease during our stay. We think it was caused from the pool. Luckily for us we got back home before the Symptoms started cause we are now in the hospital because of it. Now would we be coming back to this resort probably not. Would we recommend to our friends and family NOPE. Not worth the price in my opinion.

It was so odd that the family pool was the pool bar and the adults only pool was away from the bar. Also, the pool area had a sign with the property rules which doesn’t state that personal speakers aren’t allowed. Yet, the manager took the time to come to the adults only pool to asks to turn the speaker off. The especially restaurants are limited depending on the number of nights you stay. This was something new for us. We had stayed a couple of time at the Barcelo Maya and Barcelo Palace in the Riviera Maya and never had any issues with the number of especially dinners or speakers. Additionally, the fact of being repeated Barcelo guest didn’t give us any perks/upgrades or recognition whatsoever. The Barcelo Vallarta has a lot to learn from the Barcelona in the Riviera Maya.

I was very upset for multiple reasons. I asked the management at Los Arcos to put two tables together as my party was too big for a table of 4. We had 7 people. We were all there and they told me no. This was right after I saw them out two tables together for another group! Another issue, was that they never could fit a group of 10 people into the Japanese restaurant in all the days we were there. Next, I specifically asked if we could wear nice dress shorts for dinner (not trunks or athletic shirts) and was told yes, no problem. When we arrived at the Italian restaurant, they turned us away! When I told the lady that they told us that our attire would be good, she said, with a bad attitude, “they gave you wrong information”. Overall a very horrible experience for a large group of 10 people.

Dining options were less than most resorts. Dining staff at the Italian and steak house were unfriendly and not accommodating to the tune of rude. I was lied to and not turned away from the Italian restaurant. This was in addition to the staff not wanting to accommodate a party of 10 in any of the restaurants.

The pools are amazing, the rooms are very spacious and every room has an ocean view. Even when the hotel is full the pools have plenty of space and you don’t feel packed in anywhere. The beach is nice but there are too many boats to really swim out. The food was good, the drinks were plentiful and the shows were well done. This is a very clean hotel and the staff are so friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that it is far out from Puerta Vallarta itself and it’s about 300 pesos and 30ish minutes by taxi each way every time you want to do something outside the hotel. Just something to plan for. We had a great time and the weather was great despite the humidity. I would definitely recommend the Barcelo for families wanting a peaceful, relaxing vacation.

My relative booked through the hotel, paid much less than I did, received premium level. She had a beautiful view, access to reserve dinner at restaurants every night, access to a vip lounge. We had trees in front of our 2nd floor room, only 3 out of 6 nights to have nice dinners, and none of tge otger amenities. The public bathrooms were clogged the last teo days we were there, the air conditioner was dripping on me and my food at the buffet, the gum equipment was old and rusted including a treadmill that shook so much my water bottle fell off of it when I jogged, and they had pails to catch the water from the leaky roof in various locations in the hotel.

Beautiful resort. Gorgeous views, friendly staff, several dining options. Didn’t love the reservation system for the more formal dinner choices. Lots of excursions leaving right from the property. Will visit again.

Hotel was at most 3 star there is no shuttle service that comes to this hotel so expect to Uber or cab everywhere. Beach was not a place to hang out and relax completely bombarded with tours and excursions. We did not even sip toes in the ocean. Beach is not desirable to enjoy. We would not stay at this resort again it was not worth the money or the distance to get there.
