"What a spectacular place to stay in Vieques! It’s only a ten minute drive to Esperanza and not much longer to head back to the ferry on the other side of the island. The resort is a short drive to the best beaches and, when you just want to be mellow at home, you can go to a morning yoga class, swim in the pool or just hang out and read. The property is beautiful and the design of each building /room is truly unique (genius). We had an outdoor shower with a view and a terrace that we especially enjoyed in the late afternoon after we came back from the beach. We loved our view from Solaris 2. The open space (no glass in the windows) is an amazing concept - it was so lovely to enjoy the fresh air and trade winds in January. It’s also special to go to sleep to the sounds of the coqui (little tree frogs) and crickets. Even though it rained a little every night, the inside of the room never got wet. There’s a little mesh tent around the bed, but we never needed it because there weren’t mosquitos or other bugs. I think it helped that we didn’t leave lights on when we were out to dinner. We also loved that the room came with a fully stocked kitchen and dining table, so we could enjoy breakfast there every day. I also want to note how friendly and helpful everyone was at Hix Island House. I would highly recommend staying there and would gladly return. "

"I had a very pleasant stay at Seagate. They send you information about the check-in process and activities as well as transportation. The check-in was easy and Kelly makes sure you know the ins and outs of the island. The hotel is clean and has everything you need! I personally loved the view. If I come back to Vieques I’ll be staying here again. Side note, make sure you schedule transportation ahead of time. "

"Classy resort with great pools, super friendly staff, fun waterpark, and a neat funicular to transport you down to the marina area to where you can take the boat to the beautiful private beach island. We enjoyed staying in the villas down there vs the upper part of the resort. It seemed like most of the guests had Casita wristbands on - I cannot speak of those. Next time we come back I will venture off the resort and check out the few restaurants around. We didn’t love the dinners at the restaurants as much as we hoped. Lunches and drinks were scrumptious. #tip: get some churros at the Mexican restaurant and then run up for some ice cream next to the Italian restaurant. So good! "

"This is a charming place. The “bungalow” that we stayed in was very quaint. The service was so welcoming and I saw some of them interacting later on and you can tell they enjoy their job and being there. The grounds are well cared for. There are many roosters walking around, as all over the island. They are pretty vocal but I found it amusing. The bar there is wonderful. They have breakfast there as well. I’m super bummed that they close down on Mon/Tuesday but we’re lucky enough to enjoy it on our first night. A lot of classy locals come to the bar, which is telling. They all know the bartender well. It’s in a great location but, IMO, you need a car or golf cart as the road isn’t that easy to walk on with the curves and possibly fast cars. I can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back. For 4 nights instead of 3! "
