Unwind on a beach that is naturally sheltered from the elements by dramatic cliffs and a natural bay, making it an ideal destination for a day by the sea.

Petit Bot Bay feels like a real treasure. This compact cove with minimal facilities is hidden among the cliffs of Guernsey’s dramatic southern coast. While it isn’t the kind of beach that has lifeguards and watersports equipment, it’s a perfectly picturesque place to spend a day sunbathing and exploring. Explore the hidden pools scattered across the rocky landscape then have a rest by the edge of the waves.

Take time to roam the surrounding scenery and bring your camera to capture panoramas of Guernsey’s coastline and the clear blue sea. Children will enjoy playing on the rocks, while hikers can climb up to higher vantage points for views of the bay. Intrepid explorers can seek out the waterfalls that tumble down the cliffs. Bring your binoculars and look out onto the water to see if you can spot any marine creatures, such as basking sharks or jellyfish.

Lie down on the beach and enjoy the warm sun, which gets trapped in the natural bay by the rocks. The beaches on Guernsey are famously clean and Petit Bot Bay is no different. Wait here until the tide goes out to see the sand open up in front of you.

Once you’ve explored and relaxed thoroughly, head into the tearoom that faces the bay. Take a seat at table with a view of the water and continue to enjoy the natural features of the area while sipping on your tea. The tearoom is only open during the summer months.

Discover other beaches in the area. Saint’s Bay and Moulin Huet Bay are equally attractive and can be reached by car in under 15 minutes.

Drive to Petit Bot Bay in about 20 minutes from the harbor at St. Peter Port. Extensive parking is available by the edge of the beach for free. Note that dogs aren’t allowed on the beach in summer. Visit between June and August for warm days beneath the sun or come in the shoulder seasons for a quieter trip to the beach.
