"Second stay here on our journey back to UK from Portugal. Great place, clean, comfortable and the owner is a gentleman. Local restaurant was closed this time of year, which was a shame as it’s really good food and good value but the owner pointed us to a place about 9 km away and the food was good and dogs were welcome. "Receptionist was most unfriendly to the point of ignorance. The room price demanded on arrival was 50% more than advertised on the website. When this was pointed out he just asked if I had a booking - if not then this was the only price available. I refused to pay extra, went online and booked through an agency for the advertised price and went to the desk again with my booking confirmation. He slapped the paperwork, passport and room key on the desk, pointed to the sky and turned his back on...

Even though he had just finished a night shift he volunteered to help us get into the public car park (we had arrived in a terrible storm and parked in the wrong one).
