Visit North Woodstock in the heart of New Hampshire’s scenic White Mountains region. The town features more to do outdoors than indoors and is considered the commercial hub of greater Woodstock.
The White Mountain National Forest stretches east and west of the town. Explore its dramatic wilderness along the forest’s many hiking and skiing trails. Walk along a section of the Appalachian Trail, which crosses the northwestern corner of town. The United States Forest Service established the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest as an outdoor laboratory for hydrologic studies, but casual visitors can also enjoy its natural beauty.
Start your trip at the White Mountains Visitor’s Centre. The centre is filled with large maps, historical exhibits and practical tourist information. Say hello to the large model moose in the middle of the room.
Experience a unique piece of New Hampshire’s nature at Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves. Unique rock formations and caves surround the steep glacial gorge. If you’re feeling adventurous, step off the boardwalk along the gorge and explore the caves.
Woodstock Inn Station and Brewery is an institution in town. When Woodstock’s historic train station was facing demolition, the owners had the depot building moved a few miles to the site of the inn and attached as an addition. Stay overnight or just stop for a meal. The inn’s cosy and welcoming atmosphere makes guests feel right at home.
Kancamagus Collectibles is your one-stop-shop for New Hampshire themed souvenirs, from T-shirts to local maple syrup. Make a trip back in time at the free antique car museum, where you can examine a fleet of old vehicles.
Get your clubs out at Jack O’Lantern Resort Golf Course. Besides its 18-hole golf course along the Pemi River, the resort has a pool, restaurant and holiday homes.
Although North Woodstock doesn’t have shopping malls, it does have a charming downtown. See the colourful wooden buildings along the streets, housing restaurants and boutiques. Find a spot to relax after exploring the area’s natural attractions.
