The Museum of Brisbane was originally opened in 2003 on the ground floor of City Hall and attracted over 3 million visitors over its first decade. The building was forced to close for major renovations and the institution reopened in early 2013 in a bigger and better third-floor home. With five galleries, a theatre and lounge area, the museum has quickly re-established itself as a fixture in the cultural life of the city and is now an integral part of this historic Brisbane structure.
Immerse yourself in the history of City Hall by availing of a guided tour of this premier heritage building where you will learn about its art and 1920s architecture. Hop onto the quaint, hand-operated lift which gives you a tour of the Clock Tower. Continue the journey onto the roof of City Hall. Breathtaking views of downtown await you from the observation deck.

The gallery on level 3 is home to a vast array of artifacts, artworks and archived gems. Unearth what makes Brisbane so interesting through a variety exhibitions and photographs. Discover the people and stories of Queensland’s capital, with constantly changing exhibits that have included a 19th century photographic exhibition, an examination of the city's skate culture, a look at how the settlement evolved around the Brisbane River and also an exploration of homosexual life in the city over 150 years.
Access the Brisbane Museum via the King George Square entrance, continue on through the foyer to the right and get the elevator to level 3. There is a cloakroom on the ground floor of the hall but do note access to the museum is by elevator only. Admission is free and the museum is open every day apart from public holidays.
