Incredible view
We stayed for a week in the over water bungalow. The bungalow is showing its age, however still really comfortable. This is five star location, with the balcony over looking the ocean. The air conditioning worked really well and the room is equipped with a fridge that stayed cold, coffee making facilities and towels. We will miss this place and would definitely return

Not what I had expected.
After spending two weeks in Samoa staying at different fales, these were my least favorite. The structure didn't look authentic, and was wrapped with tarps with large pieces of boards weighing them down. There was a storm the night we stayed, so it was loud with the sound of the boards and tarps swinging around, and a bright light from outdoors shone into our sleeping space. We didn't get any sleep. Bathroom showers (both the male and female) had used sanitary products in them. However, the staff were very friendly and attentive & the food was amazing!! Quick service as well at the restaurant.

Basic, nice people, good spot
Very budget place, friendly people, nice to be amongst the real Samoan people, room was very basic, kettle wasn't working and it needed to be replaced, service was OK but needed to ask for things that ran out, evening meals were basic and nice - management could bring the resort more up to present with better training/support. We enjoyed it albeit.

Stunning location but still being developed - fales on beachfront are basic but fine - best value for sure. Villas are new and clean but still being developed - plumbing not finished in kitchen sink, no table and chairs. Double rooms tiny and no air con - overpriced for what you get. Menu is basic but disappointingly, half of what was on the menu was not available - and not signalled before ordering. Also pack of dogs roaming beach were intimidating and noisy

Disappointing experience and conditions
Although we chose villas for added comfort and the windows had mosquito netting there were large gaps in the front door and the back door. I don’t really understand the reason for the back door as this just led to the wild bush and a stagnant pond. This may explain why we were bitten by mosquitoes and midges every night. Also both villas were infested with ants. Staff seemed disinterested and didn’t recommend anywhere to go - we walked to the Return to Paradise resort which is about 1km away to get information. We also got charged $20 per hour for Wi-Fi when we asked to use to check family were ok back home. On the plus side the beach was lovely and (we saw blue star fish and other tropical fish) and the food was really nice.

Beautiful beach and fun holiday
We were a family of 7 and had a wonderful Samoan experience. We had a rental van and did our own touring around which was great. We saw so much of Samoa and experienced the true Samoan culture at Faimafili Village Resort as well as all the touristy things like the Trench, Sliding Rock and swimming with the turtles. Robert Louis Stevenson's house is great and worth the wait to take the tour. To take a vehicle on the ferry to the island of Savaii you need to book at least 4-5 days in advance although there are plenty of taxis on arrival at Savaii.

The beach and was excellent, unfortunately that was the only high light, we had a knock at our door every morning at 8.15 that breakfast was ready, which consisted of eggs cooked in various ways but always cold. the only night we had dinner there the Entree's, main's and desert were delivered all at the same time an hour and a half after we ordered them and all stone cold, even the ice cream in the desert had melted. Our garden Villa was nice enough until you went into the bathroom that smelt like a long drop toilet, which as far as I could tell was coming from the shower drain. They cleaned the Villa once in the week we were there and the smell disappeared till the bathroom was used. My daughter went for a wander one day and found were all the rubbish and probably the sewerage outlet which was in the water way 20 meters behind our Villa. Altogether very disappointing experience and would not recommend.

Great location with friendly management and staff. Relaxed atmosphere to chill out in. Breakfast and dinner went down well. The bed in our villa was comfortable, and the tap water cool and fresh. Nothing seemed to be too much.

Beautiful beach and setting. No hot water....we used a bucket and a borrowed kettle (no cups or kettle etc in villa). Staff we lovely but felt pushed regarding meals. They came over about 6pm and inquired about our evening meal...giving us the menu...only about 75% available. Then let us know when dinner was ready...it was usually cold and once we had finished eating the bill was there and it was obvious we were to leave. WiFi difficult at the best of times. Staff probably need some training to deal with tourists. Recommended if you bring a solar shower, own towels....groceries as nothing there really....and do not mind an experience.

Ultimate island experience!
From the start the staff at Faimafilli truly make one feel comfortable and at ease! The Fales with their spectacular views are a unique experience that a person should try at least for a couple of days! I would highly recommend Faimafilli Village Resort and hope to visit again soon!

Friendly, wonderful location
Our family of 4 stayed in the villa over the water which was beautifully located, with a wonderful beach and great snorkelling. The resort is run by a very helpful and friendly family. Amazing staff who were attentive and professional. Having spent 2 nights at an upmarket resort prior to staying here we welcomed the change and felt it was for the better. This is not 5* luxury accommodation by any stretch, but it was clean, very welcoming and perfectly adequate for our family. Great for kids as the beach provided hours of snorkelling and we could watch them from either the villa or the fabulously located restaurant over the beach. The restaurant was excellent and very good value. The mojito mocktail was a highlight of the bar; fresh lemongrass and local limes. The oka was the best we had tried on our travels, and the lobster was also a highlight and incredibly good value. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh. The chef was obliging when asked if he could make us Chop Suey! The highlight was the fire dancers on Friday night. They were amazing and it was a bonus they were all local. The manager Tim values the local villagers and contributes accordingly. The planned upgrades sound great and we wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Great Resort, Great Value Restaurant
Faimafilli is not the flashest or the largest resort on Upolo’s south coast but it may well be the friendliest. Nothing is too much trouble for Tim and the team. We were lucky enough to score an over-water villa on an Expedia deal and it was perfect for us. Large, comfortable, cool and quiet, we felt like we were living like kings – but the standard villas look fine also. No hot water but, being Samoa, the cold water was plenty warm enough! The beach here is gorgeous, with natural rock outcrops splitting the sandy beach into four little ‘coves’. The snorkelling is great – accessible whatever the tide – and we were lucky enough to twice see a turtle. And it’s 10 minutes by car from the Savaia marine reserve and its giant clams and coral. Don’t come here if you want a large resort with pools, courts and swim-up bars, every mod-con, though we have to say the Friday night culture show and the Sunday ‘toonai’ (hangi) were outstanding. The place has clearly changed for the better since last year's management change but is still developing: A few more over-water villas and a pool are planned – but I doubt they’ll change its laid-back character. If you want to chill under the sun and in the water, if you value a bit of peace and quiet, to lay back and forget the stuff you left home to forget, this place is perfect.
