My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in May 2015, we were having a walking holiday in the Yorkshire Dales and wanted a pleasant base for the week. The good news was that we found one. Sykes's House is a small 2 room B&B in the centre of Askrigg. It also serves as the village shop, so there was a pleasant amount of activity and a chance to meet the locals. 3 pubs in the village were good choices for dinner in the evening (the Kings Arms is the best, followed by the Crown), breakfasts at the B&B were so good, that I did not need lunch. The small bottle of fresh milk by the door every morning was a great touch for us to be able to have our first tea/coffee of the morning in bed. There was adequate car parking outside. The nearby walking was very good, either up or down the dale, so Askrigg was a perfect base. Alison and Michael, the owners, were very friendly and helpful. Having a car is almost essential as although there is a local bus service, it is a bit sparse. Would certainly recommend to others
