Experience Argentine viticulture, sample a selection of fine wines and dine on exquisite cuisine while visiting this 19th-century wine estate.

Lagarde Winery is an esteemed vineyard famous for its production of elegant red, white and sparkling wines. It offers informative tours, wine flights and a delicious lunch accompanied by wine pairings. Listen to the secrets to the success of Lagarde Winery while wandering amid its picturesque fields of grapes with a knowledgeable winemaker.

Established in 1897, Lagarde is one of the oldest wine bodegas in the Luján de Cuyo district of Mendoza. It produces grape varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, malbec and semillón. Lagarde was also a pioneer in Latin America in harvesting viognier and moscato bianco, grapes often used for sparkling wines. The winery has a storage capacity of about 500,000 gallons (2,000,000 liters) and produces over 300,000 gallons (1,000,000 liters) of wine each year.

Join a guided tour to learn about the winery’s owning families in addition to its harmonious use of both ancient winemaking traditions and state-of-the-art technology. See the huge barrels, vats and tanks in the production and storage rooms. Walk between the grape vines of the on-site vineyard, one of five owned by the winery, and admire the stunning mountain backdrop. Finish your tour with a tasting session, which includes generous samples of a selection of premium wines.

For the ultimate experience, make a reservation for a mouthwatering multi-course lunch. Feast on tender Argentine steaks and plates that blend the traditions of Mendoza cuisine with typical Italian flavors. Enjoy a wine pairing with each course and receive a detailed explanation of each wine from your waiter. Choose to dine in a garden set adjacent to the vineyards or inside with splendid panoramas.

Located in Luján de Cuyo, the winery is about 12 miles (20 kilometers) south of Mendoza’s city center. Get here easily via public bus or taxi. Free parking is available if you arrive by rented car.

Lagarde Winery is open from Monday to Saturday year-round. There is a fee for the tour, which includes the wine tasting. Make an advanced reservation to ensure you’ll have a spot in the restaurant.
