"I did not stay at this property. It was a scam. The location and map provided did not match the actual location in Gaborone, which ended up being in a shanty town of the city. When contacted by phone, the person from the guest house said they were going to place me in ‘another location’ because they were full. This obviously sounded wrong to me, and I refused to stay. It was an unsafe choice, and I decided not risk it. I have contacted the Expedia team to let them know about this scam."

"Communication between Hotels Com and corner cottage did not exist.. We were lucky to find the hotel not. fully booked. How does hotels come confirm our booking without consulting corner cottage.. "We have indeed had to change our plans based on our experience on arrival at the Golden Door in Gaborone. We were shown to the room called "Pearl" which with a quick look round showed it to be unclean. There was a general damp smell about the room. The mirror sliding wardrobe door had a crack down its full length. There were dirty marks on the sliding door to the bathroom, matchsticks and dirt in the carpet and a general lack of care. In the bathroom we found a finished toilet roll with a new...

Spacious, comfortable room

"We had a really nice room; it was spacious, comfortable and witha good bathroom, including separate shower and bathtub. The decor is lovely and has a bit of an old colonial feel. However, this hotel has definitely seen better days. It could do with a bit of maintenance and modernisation to give it a new lease of life. The pool was terrible - very small, dirty and just not a great corner of the hotel plot. The breakfast was nice, but you hvaeto cross the carpark to go to the bar/restaurant... not a major hardship but not pleasant when it is raining. This was a short one-night stop for us as part of a bigger journey, so the hotel served it's purpose."

Short stop at the end of a longer trip

"Comfortable one-night stay. The room was well furnished and in decent condition, though the AC was a bit tricky. Bathroom was very modern. The hotel has a nice decor,but some areas are showing signs of age. The pool area is nice and large, but could have been a but cleaner and needs new or more modern loungers and seating options. The food menu at the bar was limited, and the food was ok - not the best we had in Botswana, but not bad either. There was a DJ by the pool that was very loud (as seems to be typical in Botswana) but this finished at around 22:00 so did not disturb our sleep. There is no lift, but the staff did help by bringing our luggage up to our 1st floor room."
