My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Thamel Eco Resort, so good we stayed twice, before and after our trek. There was a little confusion in the beginning, make sure you reserve a room which has a bathroom in the room (which is the more expensive). The manager quickly fix our situation and got us the room we needed. He's a very nice gentleman and will do anything to help your stay be the best it can be. He help arrange our second stay after our trek with no problems. The food is wonderful, huge breakfast, more then anyone could eat with lots of opinions. Great courtyard with a beautiful garden. We would meet our friends there for dinner, very charming. Its right in the heart of Thamel (make sure you get his card with a map on the back to help if you get lost). Its down a road off the main street which I'm sure it helped with the city noise, however it is Kathmandu not a suburb. Right under our window there were roosters crowing all day long. If roosters crow cuz their happy well then these were the happiest roosters I've ever seen or heard. However once it gets dark everything soon shuts down so you can sleep. I recommend this hotel very highly, its a great price with comfort and wonderful food. The staff are friendly and good at their job, I always felt that they cared about us not just doing it for a paycheck.
