Visit the Focus on the Family Welcome Centre for fun and learning for all the family. This popular destination is run by the Focus on the Family global Christian ministry and delights visitors with its children’s attractions, radio show and behind-the-scenes tours.
The nonprofit organization was founded by Colorado Springs-based psychologist Dr James Dobson and is dedicated to providing spiritual and practical support to families.
Go on a free guided or self-guided tour of the campus and learn about the work of the ministry. Stop by the 170-seater theatre to see documentary films about Focus on the Family. Watch a taping of the ministry’s daily radio show that covers Christian and family themes. Browse for biblical stories and literature about the family in the large bookstore. View wildlife paintings by artist and conservationist Guy Harvey in the G. Harvey Art Gallery.
There is much for children to see and do. Inside the Discovery Emporium, find the Narnia Adventure Room and a forest themed play area for toddlers. Go to the KYDS' Radio Studio where they can voice an episode of an adventure. Their performances are recorded on CD and given to you for free. If they enjoyed this, take them to the centre’s Foley Museum where they can learn about sound effects.
Admission is free, however it is recommended to call in advance to check on opening hours. Bookings are required to attend a broadcast taping. Guided tours are conducted between Monday and Friday.
The Focus on the Family Welcome Centre is situated 10 miles (16 kilometres) north of the centre of Colorado Springs. The fun family attraction is close to a main bus route and there is free parking nearby.
