Ski down gentle slopes with the kids or enjoy a whirlwind weekend snow trip at this resort, located in Germany’s scenic Black Forest Mountains.

Experience picturesque Feldberg, an ideal snow destination for both families and adventurists. Explore long trails, a quality terrain park and enchanting backcountry through Germany’s Black Forest before enjoying the resort’s après-ski entertainment.

Strap on skis or a board and discover one of the Bavarian Alps’ most beloved alpine areas. Make your own tracks on more than 20 individual trails, which stretch over 30 miles (48 kilometres). The resort’s low altitude ensures mostly comfortable temperatures throughout the year, although this also means the snow cover is variable. Take advantage of the area’s proximity to several airports to come for a spontaneous weekend ski trip.

Build your confidence on the snow with a gentle run down Feldberg’s long beginner slopes. Sign up for a skiing or snowboarding workshop to perfect your skills, with an expert giving you guidance. Be sure to stop at MINI Snowpark, a terrain park complete with jumps and rails, to watch freestylers flipping and grinding.

Explore the Black Forest valley as you follow an extensive network of nearly 40 miles (60 kilometres) of cross-country ski trails. Take a guided snowshoe trek through the mountains and stop to enjoy hot beverages at picturesque viewpoints. For an incredible vantage point over the snow-covered landscape, ride the scenic cable car that leaves from a station near Feldberger Hof, one of the village’s oldest hotels.

On windy days, try snowkiting, a popular local sport that involves skiers gliding uphill and down propelled by wind-blown parachutes. Enjoy the thrill as you scoot above the treetops on a zip-line tour, which you can organise through local operators. After a hard day adventuring, retreat to the lovely Feldberg village to find cosy restaurants and bars serving Bavarian brews.

Feldberg is most easily accessed from Zurich Airport, which is connected to the resort via efficient shuttle bus services. Parking is available at the resort base, but the limited spaces fill quickly on weekends. Stay at slope-side accommodation for the easiest access to the mountain. Feldberg’s skiing season lasts from mid-December to early April each year.
