With its pale sand and bright blue waters, El Castillo Beach is as beautiful as any of the stunning stretches of sand that run around the coast in the Fuengirola region. Come here to enjoy the ocean in an area with excellent facilities. You will be close to many other things to do if you need to take a break from the sun in the middle of the day.
As its name suggests, El Castillo Beach is located close to a castle. The stunning Castillo de Sohail is perched in a scenic location on a hill at the opening of the Fuengirola River, less than 10 minutes’ walk from the beach. Take in beautiful views across the sand and the sea from this 10th-century relic, which has been restored to an excellent condition. Find out if any events are happening at the castle, such as the popular Beer Festival or the Medieval Market.
On the beach itself, set up for the day beneath one of the thatched sun shades available for rent. Pay for access to one of the brightly colored boats that make this beach look so pretty and you can hold a lunchtime barbecue within it. Note that these boats are not for sailing they are designed for cooking only. If you want to take to the water, simply swimming is the best way to do it. The waves are fairly gentle, and are usually safe for people of all ages.
El Castillo Beach connects to Santa Amalia Beach. Together these form part of Fuengirola’s longest ribbon of sandy coast. Arrive early in the morning to go for a peaceful walk along this beautiful stretch of sand.
The beach features excellent facilities, including showers and a wide selection of eating and drinking options within easy walking distance. Nearby attractions include the Parque de Poniente playground. Choose from many different accommodations, too.
Walk to El Castillo Beach from downtown Fuengirola in around 20 minutes. Alternatively, drive and leave your car in the parking lot next to the castle.
