"Whilst most of the hotel is 5 star, there were some niggling problems. 1. The WiFi and internet are terrible. This is 2025 not 1995 !! 2. The cord on the hairdryer was so short you cannot use a mirror when drying your hair. 3. The “adults” pool is not really for adults. It has no lifeguards but children n can use it freely. Everything else was excellent, especially breakfast."

"Very relaxing stay next to the lagoon but also an easy walk to the beach. Only one restaurant was open aged that was on the beach so a bit of a trek when it rained. My room looked out on to a corridor which wasn’t ideal and the sealant around bathroom fittings was black with mildew. But largely these are minor details to a comfortable and relaxing stay at a fair price."

"Amazing stay, even extended twice. The service is second to none, everything is no problem. From the amazing view of the sea to all the varied wildlife in the grounds, posse of monkeys visit every day drinking from the pool and generally being monkeys to peacocks, a mongoose, frogs, all the birds. "This is the 3rd time that I am returning to Halcyon. It really is the best hotel on Mawella beach (and maybe even in whole of southern province :) The hotel is beautifully and tastefully decorated, the staff are super friendly, including owner Xander, it's absolutely right on the beach , the food is great.
