"People were vaping and smoking constantly in front of lobby doors. It would even come into the lobby. Additionally, people were vaping in the hallways and sometimes would sit at the benches by the elevator, at all hours, doing it so it would smell like weed. My room was right by the elevator so at one point my room was a little smoky and I was worried there was a fire but it was just someone vaping. "I traveled from New Zealand for three days of Opera at the Met then back home again. The Empire was a friendly base close to the Lincoln Center that was safe to come back to late at night. "

"Would give this place a five except that both the shower and toilet are surrounded by clouded glass in a very small room. No walls, just clouded glass. Not great unless you’re fine with your travel partner having a cloudy view of your shower and bathroom activities. "

"I liked the room size. Perfect for one individual. I was unaware that there was no elevator and I was on the 5th floor. Stairs are hard to climb and descend with luggage. Would recommend assistance or a note to allow people to know about the lack of elevators. There were ample food options in the neighborhood. "
