"The staff get 12 out 10. Choice of different items in buffet are amazing. This is a 4* and they had king prawns on dinner menu on 21st december with the lower rates before Christmas. We are writing this review from a 5* hotel in malindi owned by a large italian chain on christmas eve and there is no dreams of having prawns on menu. Hands down an amazing experience. Only downside is the general cleanliness. The loos near the pool stink really bad "

"The property suffers from significant underinvestment, leading to a noticeable decline in standards. It is poorly maintained and desperately in need of an overhaul. The bedroom facilities are outdated and deteriorating, with crumbling fixtures and old infrastructure, such as hairdryers, that have long since broken and been removed. "Hemingways Watamu was just what we were looking for in terms of somewhere to relax and rest after an injury and work. Watamu itself is a bit less interesting in the off season (I.e. most restaurants are closed, as are many of the gear shops), but it’s still lovely if not a tad bit windy. Staff were amazing! Highly recommend."

We did have a problem with the water supply being no hot water, but they fitted a new solar system so it was working at the end of our visit. Watching the monkeys while eating breakfast was amazing.
