Originally opened for the 1988 Winter Olympics, this fantastic attraction is now open to the public and boasts an impressive range of winter sport activities.

Situated just outside Calgary, Canada Olympic Park specialises in all kinds of winter sport activity. From skiing to bobsledding to ice hockey, this park has an activity for visitors of all ages and abilities. If you’re visiting in summer, don’t worry – there is still plenty to see and do.

When winter falls, the notorious ski slopes are covered with a thick, white velvet blanket. This is when visitors and locals come out to play and try their hand at skiing, snowboarding, bobsledding, ice hockey and skating. Make sure you have a look at the park’s website for more information on competition schedules if you want to witness some of the world’s greatest athletes in action.

If you haven’t skied for a while, lessons taught by experts are available to give you an extra nudge down the slopes. Weekend camps for advanced snowboarders and skiers are also available to add the finishing touches to your skills.

The park is also a fantastic area for kids to explore, with a whole range of activities that are bound to entertain and exhaust. Activities and attractions include a spiderweb climb, rock-climbing wall, harness bungee, skating, mountain biking and ice hockey lessons.

During the summer months, the park offers indoor ice skating, mini golf and luge rides. For adrenaline seekers, the numerous mountain bike trails are a great day out and are available for all levels of skill. Or have a go on the fastest zip line ride in North America and hit speeds of up to 140 kilometres per hour as you fly along the 500-metre line which has a vertical drop of 100 metres.

Make sure you visit the Canada Sports Hall of Fame which showcases the sporting achievements of over 520 athletes.

Canada Olympic Park is situated at the Bowfort Road junction of the TransCanada Highway and can be accessed easily by car or taxi. There is free on-site parking for visitors. Prices at the park vary depending on the activity and the time of year. Check the website for the current prices and opening hours. A restaurant is available on site to replenish between activities.
