Find several beautiful beach choices here, all featuring pristine waters and striking rock formations.

The picturesque stretch of coastline of Brela Beach attracts sun-seeking holiday makers with its good looks and warm waters. It’s a pleasant place to spend an afternoon or stroll around during the evening. Swim in the waters of the Adriatic Sea, lie in the sun or wander along the shoreline.

Brela Beach encompasses several sections of beach, each with its own distinct identity. Begin at Punta Rata, the most famous and perhaps the most scenic part. Frequently touted as one of the best beaches in the world, this pebbly stretch has been awarded Blue Flag status for its cleanliness, safety and quality services.

Rent sun loungers and bask in the sun or seek shade under the pines lining the gravel shore. For more exhilarating beach pursuits, rent a paddleboat or embark on a boat excursion along the Makarska Riviera.

Punta Rata is family friendly with lifeguards on duty all day during the busy summer season. Bring your camera along and take photos of the unique rock formation at the western end of the beach. This pine-covered islet is called Kamen Brela (the rock of Brela) and is frequently seen in postcards and tourist brochures for the town.

Find more dramatic coastal scenery at Vruja Beach, which extends north from Brela. Because of the dramatic high cliffs that enclose this pebbled bay, it is difficult to reach by land visitors often arrive by boat from Brela. With its secluded setting and lack of crowds, Vruja is a romantic stop-off for honeymooners and couples. It also has a nudist section.

For watersports, stop at the pine-backed Berulia Beach, which hosts parasailers and Jet Skiers. Comprised of three bays stretching along the coast, this beach also features public toilets and outdoor showers, as well as several cafés and restaurants.

Brela Beach can get busy during summer so arrive early to stake out the best sunbathing spots. Punta Rata is the easiest to access and is located just a short walk from the centre of Brela town. If you’re coming from Split or Makarska, use a public bus to reach Brela.
