Qatar’s first-ever theme park is Aqua Park, a watery playground full of slides and pools to suit all ages. From the gentle toddler pools to the thrilling rides with names like Boomerango, there is plenty for the whole family to do on a day out. Visit Aqua Park to escape the heat of the day and spend time cooling off in the water or watching the kids play safely from the shade of a palm tree.
Aqua Park Qatar covers 12 acres (9 hectares). There are slides which stand as high as a four story building for the truly brave to conquer, while those who prefer a more laid-back water experience can float serenely along the 650-foot (200-meter) long Lazy River.
The whole family will enjoy the enormous wave pool, where the rhythmic motion of the sea has been perfectly captured. Jump the breaking waves as you enjoy the six different patterns, or if you prefer something more relaxing head to the Lagoon Pool for some tropical relaxation.
One of Aqua Park’s most famous and popular rides is the Stingray Surf Machine. Test your balance as you try surfing or skim-boarding on this world-first half-pipe ride. The curved sidewalls reach 90 degrees, creating an exciting and challenging surfing or body boarding experience.
Younger children can spend hours playing in Pirate’s Bay or the African Village, where they’ll find slides, fountains and a tipping bucket that pours 2,000 gallons (7,570 liters) of water every 2 minutes. The Bumper Boat pool is another favorite with small children.
Aqua Park Qatar is located in Abu Nakhla, approximately 21 miles (34 kilometers) from the center of Doha. Travel here by taxi in around 40 minutes, or drive and leave your car in the large on-site parking lot. Aqua Park is open from mid morning until the evening, although during the winter months open times are dependent on weather. Visit Aqua Park’s official website for more information.
