"Great little hotel with a pool just outside downtown Sandakan. The hotel restaurant was a pleasant surprise, as they had good Malay food and the staff were amazing! Unfortunately they do not open in a timely manner for breakfast. Otherwise a great stay. If you're into history there are some cool photos in the lobby worth checking out. Apparently the property was a former residence of the governor of North British Borneo, and it is nice to see what it and the town used to look like."

"There are improvements being carried out, which will make a difference in the future. We were unable to get the advertised wifi at all, despite the router being reset many times. This was annoying. "For the area of Sandakan that this hotel is in this is a pretty good option if you really have to stay here! I would not recommend the area at all. The staff here were very attentive and friendly. The room was adequate but the pillows were horrendous! Just lumpy lumps of hard sponge! The shower and sink use a pump system which was not smooth at all and you either had a ‘power’ shower or a trickle. "Rooms are basic but the location to orangutan rehab center, etc and wilderness surrounds is all worth it. Unique jungle experience. Staff and owners were so very helpful and considerate. Excellent cook here! We had a medical episode and the owners and staff couldn’t do enough to assist us! Thank you to Jessica and her staff."

"Pros are proximity to the airport, and available free shuttle to the airport as well. Otherwise an average 2 star hotel. Cons Breakfast is a buffet style with Rice, Noodles and Vegetables, and Chicken. Eggs are boiled but almost RAW. You can toast your own bread with butter and jelly. Coffee is ok.
